5 things you didn’t know about your V-Zone

Something great to share with you ladies...

Ideally, every woman should understand her body better. Unfortunately, despite the advance technology and unlimited information that we can obtain, we lack time to absorb and understand everything about ourselves. Having said that, in order to have a well-balanced life, you should understand your physical body, your emotions and connect with your inner-self.

For every single woman, it is important to understand the v-zone. Why? Sometimes, you may be misinformed, or do not understand a certain fact but decide you’re too shy to ask, or you may not even know how to explain it to your daughter.

This is a list of five things you didn’t know about your vagina:

Vagina is a self-cleaning organ

Do you experience discharge from your vagina? If you are practicing a healthy lifestyle, you should not worry about the discharge. Healthy discharge do not have strong odour, and it is a misconception that all vaginal discharge leads to sexually transmitted diseases. In fact, you may experience different amount of discharge throughout your period. The vagina cleans itself with the natural discharge.

Vagina is like a balloon

Your vagina is surrounded by muscle and it can easily expand and contract. Kegel exercises help to strengthen the pelvic muscles of your vagina. When a woman gives birth, her vagina expands to make itself bigger and reduces itself to its normal size again.

Cervical scan is vital

The vagina and cervix are two different organs because the cervix is actually a cylinder-shaped tissue that connects the vagina and uterus. Regular cervix scan can detect abnormalities early and stop the spread of the cervix cancer. Women from age 25 to 64 are advised to attend regular cervical screening.

Bacteria and vagina

There’re good and bad bacteria in your vagina. Do not panic, it is actually normal for good bacteria such as lactobacilli to be in the vagina. Lactobacilli balance the level of acidity in vagina. Bad bacteria usually cause discomfort such as itchiness or even smelly discharge. It is best to use unscented soaps or liquid to wash your vagina and keep it clean.

Pubic hair is good for you

We’re not asking you to stop waxing your pubic hair, but you can leave pubic hair alone as it is good for your vagina. Though it may not look ‘clean’, pubic hair keeps unwanted skin infection away from your vulva (outside your vagina).

A vagina is not a dirty word, but it is a crucial organ to all women. And, as a woman, you should not be ashamed to want to know about how your body functions. We hope that these facts will make you want to embrace and celebrate your unique self, starting today.
